Centre Co. wildlife preserve to receive additional funding to improve handicap accessibility

Centre Co., PA (WJAC) — A unique recreational area in Centre County is slated to get a new round of upgrades through a state funding grant.
The Soaring Eagle Wetland is termed a nature preserve. The 135 acres is located just off of Route 220, near the village of Julian.
One of the area's unique aspects is handicap accessibility, including a trail from the parking lot to a small landing along Bald Eagle Creek, for fishing.
The state's Department of Conservation and Natural Resources is providing a funding grant, just over $400,000, for phase two of work at Soaring Eagle.
Plans call for more pedestrian walkways and signage, along with landscaping and stormwater management improvements.
The Soaring Eagle property is owned by the Wildlife for Everyone Foundation, and was created in 2002 as part of a wetlands mitigation project in the wake of PennDOT’s I-99 construction.
