Former Bellwood school board member arrested; cache of drugs, guns seized

Blair Co., PA (WJAC) — Authorities are providing new details about what led to police activity in the Bellwood area on Wednesday.

According to a criminal affidavit, authorities with the Drug Enforcement Agency (DEA) arrested Jason Lynn following a search of his home and multiple storage units.

Investigators say agents seized various drugs, including suspected methamphetamine, heroin, fentanyl, ecstasy, marijuana and mushrooms, as well as firearm ammunition, from Lynn's East 5th Street home.

Authorities say officials then searched two storage units belonging to Lynn.

The first, located at Bob's Storage Units, in Altoona, led to the discovery of over four pounds of methamphetamine and seven firearms.

Authorities noted that one of the firearms was described as a "ghost gun."

Investigators say more fentanyl and heroin was also discovered in the unit.

Officials say they then searched the second storage unit, located at Sugar Run Self Storage, where authorities discovered more ammunition and drugs.

Investigators say Lynn later admitted to recently purchasing the methamphetamine from a "supplier."

DEA officials say he also admitted to possessing the firearms and keeping them in his storage unit.

Investigators noted in the complaint that Lynn had a prior criminal history, including an arrest, in 2020, after a traffic stop led to the discovery of drugs, guns and cash inside his car.

Lynn faces various charges related to drug and firearms trafficking.

Authorities add that a detention hearing is scheduled for Friday morning in Johnstown.

State police announced Wednesday afternoon that they are assisting local and federal authorities with an ongoing investigation in Antis Township.

Officials say a heavy police presence is expected to be in the Bellwood area for an extended period of time.
