DuBois Fire Department's 'sink the tub' tradition continued at Tannery Dam

DUBOIS, Pa. (WJAC) — A DuBois Fire Department tradition continued Wednesday with the "sink the tub" contest at the Tannery Dam.
Firefighters from all five fire companies in the city used their skills to draft water out of the dam into their engine, then use that same water to try to sink a metal wash tub in the middle of the lake.
Thursday’s final competition will be the "standing pump contest" at DuBois Area High School starting at 6:30 p.m.
Tuesday night's contest was the annual "battle of the barrel."
"The sink the tub is by far the crowd favorite,” said DuBois Fire Chief Tony Roy. “You know, the community favorite. We get more people here for this than anything because this is something people don't see every day, see us do. Drafting water from the dam. And then you know, obviously trying to sink a tub out in the middle of the dam."
These three nights of contests always follow the week after DuBois Community Days.
