Clearfield County native premieres his new film "Shooting Heroin"

(WJAC). — A locally produced feature film is hitting multiple theaters in our area in the upcoming weeks.
Directed and produced by Clearfield County native, Spencer T. Folmar, “Shooting Heroin” is about the opioid epidemic. In the film, a small town comes together to eliminate heroin from the community and fight the spread of drugs.
“It feels like a really perfect time to tell this story, because the opioid epidemic is so pertinent right now. It's an important story, I feel really honored to come back home and shed some light on this dark situation,” Folmar said.
Folmar said the movie, which was filmed last fall in Clearfield and Centre counties, was inspired by a trip home he made a few years ago.
“Whenever I visited back home, I saw how terribly my hometown had been devastated by the opioid epidemic, and how this issue is ravaging the country,” Folmar explained.
Last week, “Shooting Heroin” premiered at the Rowland Theatre in Philipsburg. Folmar is holding another red carpet premiere at his nonprofit theater, The Guthrie, in Grove City, on Friday.
The movie is also showing at the Ritz Theater in Clearfield on Oct. 27 at 2 p.m., the State Theatre in State College on Nov. 1 at 7 p.m., the Reitz Theatre in DuBois on Nov. 2 at 7 p.m., and the Mishler Theatre in Altoona on Nov. 8 at 7 p.m.
