Rural King brings 80 jobs to Clearfield
LAWRENCE Twp., CLEARFIELD Co.--A new farm store opened its doors in Clearfield Monday.
Rural King, the Illinois based farm store, opened it's third in Pennsylvania. A ribbon cutting ceremony Thursday welcomed the new store, located on Plaza Drive, as the newest member of Clearfield's Chamber of Commerce.
"It's a big step to have this building that's been vacant for a long period of time to be open and used by all of our community," Kim McCullough, Chamber Director, said.
A 120,000 foot building has been completely made over after being formerly known as K-Mart and a Halloween store.
"It has a lot of roots with Clearfield's farming and I think when a store comes into town, such as Rural King, it really builds upon those roots, Larry Cagliuso, Store Manager, said.
Rural King carries a wide variety of products from farm equipment, clothes, to livestock. They even donate some of those products to the local 4-H club. Cagliuso said they also fund raise to help the organization any way they can.
"It's a great foundation and I think it enables our youth to have a better understanding and we as a company try to do everything we can to support it."
According to Rural King, there are still some job openings left at the Clearfield store.
It plans to have a grand opening April 1, 2, and 3.
