Gov. Tom Wolf attends Penn State's AG Progress Days
CENTRE COUNTY, Pa. (WJAC) — Penn State's AG Progress Days continued Wednesday and family farms, agriculture business and the younger generations were hot topics during the annual government luncheon.
On day two of the AG Progress Days, Gov. Tom Wolf dropped by for a visit.
Among the issues he stressed, was the importance of maintaining the state's agriculture industry, along with keeping the younger generation interested in the industry.
In recent years, the industry has lost more than 6,000 farms. Especially the dairy farms. Those attending the luncheon hope to reverse this trend, by having state legislators approve a package of bills that will give new revenue for farming and related industries.
They are staying hopeful today, and the dean of Penn State's School of Agriculture says the new enrollment in the school is strong, which is another sign of the younger generations getting involved.
