Allegheny Township officer in critical condition after cardiac arrest

ALLEGHENY TOWNSHIP – An Allegheny Township police officer is in critical condition at UPMC Altoona after a cardiac arrest episode while on duty shortly after 8:30 a.m. Sunday, Allegheny Township Assistant Chief Michael Robison said.
Robison said the 44-year-old officer, whose name has not been released yet, was investigating a disorderly conduct-type of incident that turned into a foot pursuit, during which he collapsed and experienced cardiac arrest.
Allegheny Township police were responding to a report of a man causing a verbal disturbance at the Eldorado Mobile Home Park.
Robison said as the man was taken into custody, the officer experienced the cardiac arrest.
The other officers immediately administered CPR and revived him at the scene, Robison said.
